Lilian earned a BA in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Vienna, where she developed an interest in Post-Colonial and Feminist Theory. Building on this foundation, Lilian plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Gender Studies at the same university, aiming to deepen her understanding of gender dynamics in various conflict settings. Her interest in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the PCRC was fuelled by her engagement with the complexities of gender in post-conflict societies. She wishes to examine how gender influences and is influenced by conflict and peace building processes and the different parties involved. Lilian aspires to contribute to academic and practical discourses on gender and conflict, advocating for more inclusive and nuanced approaches to victimhood and resistance.

Trans people occupy a particularly precarious space in BiH in terms of social acceptance, legal recognition and healthcare access. The lack of protection, acceptance and support in Bosnia and Herzegovina is exemplified by the restrictions and limitations that individuals face when dealing with governmental institutions and medical professionals.

Keraterm and Trnopolje: Two Camps that Defined the War in Bosnia and Herzegovina
During the War in BiH, places of everyday life suddenly turned into epicenters of the most horrendous crimes imaginable. Schools and factories were transformed into campsites that were used to detain the civilian population and inflict collective trauma. The infamous camps in the Keraterm tile factory and the local school in Trnopolje offer insightful examples for analyzing the Bosnian Serb camp system during the war.
