Maria Thornton is currently a Cyber/IT Policy Associate with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. She graduated from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) in May of 2024. At SIPA, she studied International Security Policy with a specific focus on cybersecurity. Maria became interested in the intersection of human rights and security policy after her experience as an asylum officer for the EU, as well as her own family experience in the former Yugoslavia.
