Every product that comes out of Sapunica Studio conveys dedication, a love for nature, and a passion for handcrafting.
Whether you are looking for body care essentials for yourself or loved ones, or for the perfect Bosnian-Herzegovinian gift that incorporates quality, beauty, and wellness, the shops of Sapunica Studio, located in Sarajevo, are a must-visit.
Mirjana and Vedran Hasanagić took us on a tour of Sapunica Studio, demonstrating the production process and explaining how they have been winning the hearts of locals and tourists for more than ten years. They said it all stemmed from a love for natural products and a desire to offer something both high-quality and authentically Bosnian-Herzegovinian.
“It started as a hobby and passion for handcrafting, but it quickly developed into a serious business when we noticed how much people appreciate products that are natural, safe, and carefully made,” said Hasanagić.
Most of their products are made from natural ingredients. If they need to add ingredients like mica colors or eco-friendly glitter, they explained, they choose products with verified safety certificates and other safety guarantees.
“We choose materials carefully, cooperating with local suppliers whenever possible,” Hasanagić emphasized.
Over One Hundred Products
Products found in Hasanagić’s shops include handmade soaps, scented and massage candles, a collection of sugar scrubs, and body washes, among others. They also carry natural perfumes that offer an alternative to commercial fragrances. In total, over one hundred different products can be found in their shops.
Guided by the principles of authenticity, sustainability, and respect for nature and handicrafts, Hasanagić says that their products nourish both body and soul.
“Our handmade soaps and massage/scented candles are an absolute hit with customers. Soaps and candles with floral, fruity, and musky scents are especially popular,” said Hasanagić, adding that sugar scrubs and oil-based natural perfumes attract great attention due to their unique scents and quality.
Hasanagić explained that the soaps are made from natural oils and plants. Regardless of whether one prefers the soothing scent of lavender or refreshing citrus notes, these soaps will leave skin feeling soothed and hydrated.

You can experience peace, relaxation, and luxury with the fragrant, decorative, and massage candles that you can find in Sapunica Studio stores, which are the result of joining forces with the famous Bosnian-Herzegovinian brand Svijeće.ba.
“This collaboration brings the perfect harmony of luxurious body care and an enchanting atmosphere. Everything is made with love and attention to detail. In one place, you can find a top-notch collection of soaps and candles that exude Bosnian tradition, quality, and authenticity,” said Hasanagić.
Connecting with Bosnian Roots
Their peels combine natural oils, butter, and sugar crystals that polish the skin to a smooth, shiny surface. Hasanagić highlights the 24Ksugar Scrub—a combination of shea butter, coconut oil, and organic glitter with an irresistible musk and amber scent—confirming that “this exfoliator leaves the skin silky, soft, and shiny.”
For those who like exotic scents, there is the Tumeric and Lemon Sugar Scrub, which combines turmeric and refreshing lemon oil. It is perfect, as the Hasanagić’s say, for revitalizing tired skin, giving it natural shine and freshness.
For those who prefer to luxuriate with fragrances, they have created a line of natural perfumes with a jojoba oil base, which ensures long-lasting fragrances without harmful side effects. Choose from the calming essence of lavender, the warm and sensual tones of amber, or the exotic blend of peony and rose.
In general, the Hasanagić’s say that their products are not just luxurious but rooted in Bosnian tradition.
“Each product is handmade here in Sarajevo, making it an ideal authentic Bosnian gift for tourists who want to take a piece of this beautiful city with them,” they said.
Their biggest challenges are competing with cheaper, lower-quality imports and meeting the high cost of quality ingredients. Additionally, they note that educating consumers about the value and safety of natural products takes time and effort.
To balance creativity and business concerns related to production and management, they emphasize teamwork in product development as well as the use digital management and organization tools.
“Creativity gives us the freedom to constantly improve our products, while the business side motivates us to ensure the sustainability and growth of the business,” they explained. They said that they have a professional workshop and two sales points in Sarajevo, a lot of knowledge, experience, and loyal customers, and that they are the owners of the herbal pharmacy Aromatica in Baščaršija.
The Hasanagić’s business journey began in 1988 when they opened the first herbal pharmacy in Sarajevo. For more than ten years, they have been making handmade soap, candles, and other products.
