Media Literacy of Youth and Resistance to Media Manipulation

The Post-Conflict Research Center is proud to present this video that aims to raise awareness about the lack of media integrity and transparency in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This video was developed during the youth workshop “Media Literacy and Resisting Manipulation”, which was attended by 15 young people from across the country. Balkan Diskurs activities are supported by the Center for Independent Journalism Budapest (CIJ) under the European Union Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) and Rising Voices.

In a young country where unfettered freedom of the press is one of the main foundation pillars of statehood, it is reasonable for one to expect unbiased and free media. In theory, BiH is a media haven. However, when re-evaluated, the practice tells us an entirely different story.

Overcoming Prejudices: Nurturing Diversity through Entertainment and Play

Amra Hrustić-Šabanović, a math teacher in a Sarajevo school, together with her son Husejn, breaks down prejudices about people with Down syndrome on a daily basis, with the message that with a little more empathy and understanding, the world can be a much nicer place.
