During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, many religious buildings and structures were demolished, and items, including Holy Books (the Qur'an, Bible, Torah, and Haggadah), were burned or displaced. Numerous families of different ethnicities have preserved some of these items and once they got the opportunity, they returned them to where they belong.
The Post-Conflict Research Center (PCRC) invites young people from the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Northern Macedonia and Kosovo) to submit creative multimedia content on topics related to peace, reconciliation, and intercultural understanding in the Western Balkans.
The journey to reconstruct one’s life after war is long and fraught with danger. Current approaches by the global humanitarian system, including peacebuilding processes and local and national laws often make it an impossible journey.
In an interview with Balkan Diskurs, Sofija Todorović, a young activist from Belgrade, says: “The biggest problems of young people in Serbia, and the whole region, are ignorance and fear.”
